Sen. Heitkamp to Vote for President Trump’s Supreme Court Nominee

She said her vote does not diminish how disturbed she was by Republicans refusal to hold a hearing on President Obama's last Supreme Court nominee Judge Garland

WASHINGTON D.C. — Senator Heidi Heitkamp, a Democrat, says she “will” vote for President Trump’s Supreme Court nominee.

She was the target of an ad by the NRA to vote in his favor.

“President Trump chose a pro-gun judge for the Supreme Court,” the television ad said. “Tell Heidi Heitkamp, ‘say no to Chuck Schumer and the liberal elites’. Vote to confirm Judge Neil Gorsuch. The North Dakota men and women of the National Rifle Association are responsible for the content of this advertising.”

Heitkamp said she decided to vote for Judge Gorsuch after meeting with him and reviewing his record and testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee.

She said her vote does not diminish how disturbed she was by Republicans refusal to hold a hearing on President Obama’s last Supreme Court nominee Judge Garland.

Republicans need eight Democrats to vote with them to break the 60-vote threshold to move forward on the nomination next week.
