Lincoln Elementary Students Set Up a One-Stop Dime Shop
As part of a math lesson, students transformed their classroom into a store
FARGO, ND– Second graders at Lincoln Elementary School set up shop and are ready for business.
As part of a math lesson, students transformed their classroom into a store.
Throughout the last few weeks, the second graders have been earning money by doing chores at home.
The students then get the option to spend what they made on items donated by community members.
Students tagged the items themselves and were encouraged to make it challenging for each other.
Items had a variety of prices such as $.09 or $.23.
“They brought in items that they didn’t want anymore and priced themselves,” said Teacher Nerissa Zink. “Now, they get to shop and have a real-life experience with spending money and giving change back and all that good stuff.”
The second graders also have the chance to get some shopping done tomorrow.
Shoppers are limited to bringing $2.50 a day.
