Perham Man Arrested for Alleged Assault on Dilworth Officer

Hietala is facing charges of obstruction of the legal process, fleeing on foot and open container

DILWORTH, Minn. — A man wanted for assaulting a police officer in Otter Tail County got into a scuffle with a Dilworth police officer early Wednesday morning.

Stephen Hietala, 27, of Perham was pulled over on Highway 10 for a burned out headlight.

He twice refused orders to get out of his vehicle and fought with the officer as he tried to handcuff him so the officer tazed Hietala.

He recovered and ran off on foot but was tracked down by a Clay County K-9.
