Democrats Discuss the Consequences of the Graham Cassidy Health Care Bill

They said it was being pushed through the Senate without proper hearings and input from people directly impacted

FARGO, ND — The latest Republican effort to get rid of Obamacare has failed.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell says lawmakers will instead turn their attention to tax reform.

Before the news broke, different organizations voiced their concerns with the bill in Fargo.

They said it was being pushed through the Senate without proper hearings and input from people directly impacted.

“We just want good healthcare and let’s go forward in a manner that addresses some of the concerns of both sides but let’s bring the experts to the table. The hospitals, the doctors, the patients, so they don’t have an effect that they didn’t even see coming,” said Ryan Taylor, an organizer of the discussion.

Senator Heitkamp, a Democrat, said the bill would have been bad for North Dakota and made health care less accessible.

Republican Senator Hoeven still believes we need to reform our health care system.
