Great Plains Sends 26,000 Pounds of Food to Houston Food Bank

the Feeding America Disaster Response team reached out to the food bank for their help

FARGO, ND — Hurricane Harvey may not be in Texas anymore, but it’s a long road to recovery for victims.

Great Plains Food Bank is helping out by sending more than 26,000 pounds of food, 270 gallons of water and disaster supplies to Houston’s food bank.

Great Plains is one of many food banks the Feeding America Disaster Response team reached out to for help.

The food bank was ready to offer support, especially with the way others have helped the metro during our time of need.

“People lost everything that they have down in Texas and we know people have come up to help us when we’ve needed it,” said Nancy Carriveau, Great Plains Food Resource manager. “In our own floods, in our own disasters and so we want to do our part and do our role to give back to the communities and always be ready to help out when needed. That’s just who we are.”

The shipment is expected to arrive in Houston by Wednesday or Thursday.
