Fargo’s Studs to Rugs Business Under Investigation by Attorney General

Assistant Attorney General Parrell Grossman says a state law approved two years ago makes contractor fraud a crime

FARGO, ND — The attorney general’s consumer protection division is investigating the sudden closure of Studs to Rugs in Fargo.

The owner closed the business without warning this week, leaving an unknown number of customers in limbo.

Assistant Attorney General Parrell Grossman says a state law approved two years ago makes contractor fraud a crime.

He says the owner has not responded to attempts by his office for information.

Customers in Minnesota are being reminded about the state’s Contractor Recovery Fund.

It provides resources and possible compensation to those who have suffered an out-of-pocket loss due to contractor misconduct.
