President Trump Pardons Alexandria, Minnesota Turkey
In a national poll to see which of the two birds would get the pardon, Drumstick got 60 percent of the vote.
WASHINGTON, D.C. — One lucky turkey from a turkey farm near Alexandria, Minnesota has gotten a presidential pardon.
“Drumstick, you are hereby pardoned,” President Trump said as the crowd applauded.
Drumstick and his alternate, Wishbone, were raised by Carl and Sharlene Wittenburg, who were on hand for the pardoning.
In a national poll to see which of the two birds would get the pardon, Drumstick got 60 percent of the vote, but don’t worry for Wishbone. Both turkeys will live out their natural lives in luxury.
“Upon being pardoned, Drumstick and his friend Wishbone will live out their days at Gobbler’s Rest, a beautiful place,” President Trump said. “It’s custom built, an enclosure on the campus of Virginia Tech.”
President Trump also joked about overturning former President Obama’s turkey pardons, but he said he was informed by White House counsel that Tater and Tot’s pardons cannot, under any circumstance, be revoked.
