Longfellow Elementary Celebrates Becoming a Blue Ribbon School

Representatives from the state, both senators office's and alumni came to the assembly to speak to the students about this accomplishment

FARGO, ND — In September, Longfellow Elementary was named a National Blue Ribbon School for 2017 and now they’re celebrating.

Representatives from the state, both senators offices and alumni came to the assembly to speak to the students about this accomplishment.

Longfellow is the fourth school in the Fargo School District to receive this prestigious award.

The principal says one of their goals is not only to help each student walk away more educated, but also walk away as a leader.

“It is so exciting just because we have, I truly believe, that this is a gem of a school up here,” said principal Eric Henrickson. “We are so blessed, like you said, with families, students and staff. We’re just all one big family up here. We do laugh together, we cry together and we’re just fortunate to be one group that’s all about kids.”

In our region, Kindred Elementary and Legacy Elementary in North Dakota and Woodland Elementary in Alexandria also received the Blue Ribbon award this year.
