ND Democrats Respond to Burgum Speech; Criticize GOP for Failed Promises
State Democrats point to budget cuts and failure to increase jobs as proof of failed promises
BISMARCK, N.D. — State Representative Ron Guggisberg of Fargo delivered the Democratic Party’s response to Governor Burgum’s speech.
Guggisberg criticized Republicans for the state’s budget deficit and cuts to state spending.
He said this has put stress on state programs and individual taxpayers.
Guggisberg said that the Republican majority failed to uphold their promise of keeping property taxes steady and to increase the number of jobs statewide.
“North Dakota’s budget is upside down by more than $700 million. Legislature promised property tax relief and job growth. Instead, the Republican majority resulted in property tax increases and pink slips,” said Rep. Ron Guggisberg of Fargo.
Guggisberg said that the Democrats are eager to work with Republicans to find solutions to the state’s problems.
