Ruby’s Pop-Up Pantry in Moorhead Donates Food to People in Need

Volunteers gather at Minnesota State Community and Technical College on the fourth Tuesday of each month

MOORHEAD, Minn. — Volunteers from the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Moorhead and Minnesota State Community and Technical College teamed up to donate food to people in need.

On the fourth Tuesday of each month, people come to Ruby’s Pantry to collect two baskets of food for just twenty dollars.

People could pick from several options such as fresh bread, potato chips, fruit bowls, and sodas to take home.

The funds collected from the pantry go a long way to help members of the Moorhead community.

“When people come, they donate $20, they get two huge boxes of food. Ten percent of that money stays in our community for benevolence funds. It goes to make gift certificates for people who don’t have money to donate, it goes to providing gas vouchers for students,” said Reverend Michelle Webber, the Minister for the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Moorhead.

Over 250 volunteers showed up to help serve the food and load baskets into people’s cars.

The next pop–up pantry will take place on March 26 at the Minnesota State Community and Technical College.
