Minnesota Law Enforcement Will Have Extra DWI Patrol Over Holiday Season
2,717 DWI arrests were made in Minnesota during the holiday season last year
MINNESOTA — Before you head out to celebrate the holidays, make sure you don’t drive drunk and turn joy into tragedy.
Officers in Minnesota want to remind you to plan for a safe ride home and to have a backup plan as well.
If you’re not drinking, offer to be a designated driver. Everyone should buckle up and report any suspected drunk driving.
Minnesota State Patrol will have extra officers out during Thanksgiving weekend and the entire holiday season.
“Our goal is not about the number of tickets we write or arrests we made. It’s really about trying to prevent that very thing of destructive decisions when it comes to impaired driving whether it’s alcohol, drugs, we’re going to be out there looking for those things, so if you’re going to celebrate, just be smart about it,” Sgt. Jesse Grabow with the Minnesota State Patrol said.
Last year, 2,717 drunk driving arrests were made during the holiday season in Minnesota.
