Jim Bennett Introduced As Third Manager in RedHawks Franchise History

RedHawks have a new manager heading into 2019 season

FARGO, N.D. — The Fargo–Moorhead RedHawks have hired their new manager. The organization announced Jim Bennett as their third skipper in franchise history. Bennett replaces Michael Schlact who resigned last month to take a job with the Milwaukee Brewers organization.

Bennett has spent the last five years coaching in the Australian Baseball League with the Perth Heat and Brisbane Bandits as a hitting and bench coach. Bennett was recently named the pitching coach for the Australian National Team.

The organization said his background in pitching made him their top candidate. Bennett is eager to establish a rapport with his new players.

“To me it’s getting to know them. I want to know who they are, what makes them tick,” Bennett said. “What it is that drives them. The message I’m really getting across to them is learning about them and then the message will be ‘hey were all in this together,’ were going to have our ups and downs, but were going to grind and were going to get after it.”

Bennett’s first game as manager will be May 8th when the RedHawks open the season with the Winnipeg Goldeyes
