Inmate Accused of Assaulting Jail Guards

Knowles was in jail on two misdemeanor charges of criminal trespass and giving false information to law enforcement.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) _ A Bismarck man is accused of assaulting two guards at the Burleigh Morton Detention Center.

Authorities say 27-year-old Efrain Knowles was being escorted by the guards Aug. 7 when he began resisting. After being taken to the ground, Knowles proceeded to kick the guards in the abdomen. The guards sought medical treatment.

The Bismarck Tribune says Knowles was in jail on two misdemeanor charges of criminal trespass and giving false information to law enforcement.

He now faces two felony assault charges. Court documents do not list a defense attorney.
