BCI Investigates Alleged Sexual Assault by Jail Officer

The sheriff's office says the male officer has been placed on paid administrative leave.

VALLEY CITY, N.D.–The North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation is investigating an alleged sexual assault by a male correctional officer against a female officer at the Barnes County Jail in Valley City.

The sheriff’s office says the male officer has been placed on paid administrative leave while the BCI conducts its investigation.

No charges have been filed. The sheriff’s office provided no further details.

Last year, North Dakota lowered the grade of the Barnes County jail after the state found 19 non-compliant violations during an inspection.
