MOORHEAD, Minn. — Eighth-grader Addie Loerzel of Moorhead is one of two Minnesota teens named top youth volunteers of 2020 by The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards.

Addie is being recognized for her Addie’s Royal Cupcake stand, which she’s hosted every year since 2013.

She sells thousands of cupcakes each year to raise money for the Sunshine Foundation.

All of the proceeds are used to grant wishes for kids dealing with chronic or serious illnesses, disabilities or the effects of abuse.

Addie says, “I think it’s cool that I get to receive the award at school. I think, I think teachers will be proud of me. They’ll go and say, ‘Congratulations, Addie!'”

As state honoree, Addie is getting 1,000 dollars, a medallion and a trip to Washington, D.C. in May.
