Sixth Graders Give Back Through Research Projects
Nearly 70 students work to raise awareness for a local nonprofit.
FARGO, N.D. — Sixth graders at Carl Ben Eielson Middle School are giving back to the community, one research project at a time.
It’s the students’ second year participating in the Annual Project Based Learning event surrounding Giving Hearts Day.
Nearly 70 students, split into 16 groups, work in teams to research and create a plan to raise awareness for a local nonprofit.
They then present their work to a group of judges who vote on the three most impactful presentations.
“My favorite part is probably making the presentation, and just working with my team, having fun, and just finding fun, innovative ways to help out our community,” says 6th grader Chase Sears.
The top three groups are awarded money ranging from $50 to $150 to donate to the nonprofit they researched.
