School Board to hold more discussion on Woodrow Wilson High School
Board members state that new policy must include looking thoroughly at how they rename schools, as there is possibly more than 6 school district buildings that could be renamed due to their historical links to slavery, segregation, and the oppression of people of color.

FARGO, ND – A Fargo school board governance committee meeting to determine if the school district should rename Woodrow Wilson High School has decided to ask for more public input and develop a new policy on renaming schools in the district.
The committee came to the conclusion that they would discuss the topic further on August 11th.
They have yet to decide when they will start asking for public input.
Board members state that new policy must include looking thoroughly at how they rename schools, as there is possibly more than 6 school district buildings that could be renamed due to their historical links to slavery, segregation, and the oppression of people of color.
“Washington, Jefferson, Madison, they were all slave owners. Roosevelt was clearly a white supremacist. None of these people today would be looked at as operating in an ethical manner in our society,” said Jim Johnson, a Fargo School Board Member
The call for Woodrow Wilson High School to be renamed started last month.
A community meeting last week asked the Fargo Human Rights Commission to request the school board rename the high school.
