Furniture Mission of the Red River Valley opens in North Fargo

FARGO, N.D. – A Fargo nonprofit opens its doors to those who need furniture.

Furniture Mission of the Red River Valley held an open house at its new building on 39th Street North.

The organization hands out donated furniture to families for free.

It also partners with organizations like Churches United, New Life Center and the Red Cross.

The organization was born out of an idea by Evert Van Engelenhoven of Fargo. While volunteering for the Red Cross, he came across a similar organization in Sioux Falls and started Furniture Mission last year.

“We acquire furniture that people donate to us that’s gently used and we turn around and re-gift it to people who are in crisis, coming out of crisis, out of homelessness or abusive situations,” Furniture Mission of the Red River Valley Director of Operations Stephanie Manesis said.

Furniture Mission of the Red River Valley has helped 42 families and has handed out 267 pieces furniture since 2019.
