Water search underway at Elmwood Park in West Fargo
UPDATE: Traffic is blocked off as of 8:30 Wednesday night at 13th Avenue and River Street in West Fargo where a water recovery is underway.
Fire crews and police continue searching for a possibly suicidal woman in the water.
Some of the fire trucks have left the scene, but 13th Avenue West is closed from Sheyenne to Ninth Street.
FM Ambulance, Valley Water Rescue and the Southeast Regional UAS drone team are all on scene. Fire crews and police have been there since 4:20 PM after the woman’s husband found a note on her car saying she wants to end her life.
West Fargo Fire Chief Dan Fuller says it’s more likely the woman is in the water than on land.
Around 6:00, crews stopped swimming operations and moved to a boat search instead. The departments continue asking for community members to stay out of the area so the response team can work efficiently.
They say if they don’t find anything within the next couple hours, the search may continue Thursday morning.
