Discover Minnesota: Park Rapids Area

Gateway To The Mississippi Headwaters Within 25 Miles Of Hundreds Of Lakes

Tuesday, the Discover Minnesota series heads to one of the most beautiful places in our region.

Park Rapids has a unique downtown, with extra wide streets you can park down in the middle of.
But the area is surrounded by nearly unmatched natural beauty.
There are hundreds of lakes within 25 miles of Park Rapids.
The city lies just south of Itasca State Park, where the Mississippi River is born.

Butch De La Hunt, President/CEO, Park Rapids Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce, says, “One of the biggest gems of the entire area is Itasca State Park. Half a million people visit Itasca State Park each and every year to dip their toes into the headwaters of the Mississippi as it makes it way all the way to the Gulf of Mexico.”

Several small towns are within a few miles of Park Rapids that each offer unique sights and celebrations. We have more details in the interview above.
