Coaches were selling point for NDSU football Transfer LaCilento

Fourth Bison transfer added through portal

FARGO, N.D. — North Dakota State football adds its fourth transfer from the portal for the fall season and its depth to the offensive line by landing San Diego’s all-pioneer league first team selection Luke Licilento.

With the Toreros, Licilento went to the playoffs in 2018 and 2019. Because he’s graduating early once on campus will have two years of eligibility left  pursuing an MBA.

At USD, Licilento was not under scholarship and once the opportunity was there came to watch the Eastern Washington playoff game.

Despite four other offers from group of five schools, it was the NDSU coaches who made it an easy decision.

“They were all texting me during their playoff games and made me feel valued,” Licilento said. “You follow the transfer portals, these schools are throwing out offers to the next power five lineman who enters or the next group of five lineman who goes in, where as ndsu they’ve could’ve had anybody from any of those schools to commit right away but they were persistent with me. They believed in me and that’s ultimately why I choose them.”

Lacilento joins running back Tamerik Williams from Southern Methodist, quarterback Quincy Patterson from Virginia Tech and tight end Gabe Lloyd from Wisconsin who all announced their move to the Bison during the spring season.
