Historic Moorhead Dairy Queen opens for its 73rd season

MOORHEAD, Minn. (KVRR) – Is Spring in the air?

The iconic Moorhead Dairy Queen along Main Avenue opens for the season. People in the F-M area line up for Blizzards and other sweet treats at the birthplace of the DQ dilly bar. Customers say it feels like the unofficial welcome to spring when the family owned Dairy Queen opens its doors.

Owners say blizzards and their original BBQ sandwich are two of the hottest items on the menu.

“We do things a little different like our fruit toppings, we try to make it a little more enjoyable like I mentioned to you earlier, having a blizzard but yet, if you wanted something different added to a blizzard that normally doesn’t have that same thing,” Historic Moorhead Dairy Queen owner Troy DeLeon said.

He says they have been prepping for this opening all month getting supplies and taking care of maintenance.
