FARGO, N.D. (KVRR/KFGO) — A laptop left inside a stolen vehicle helped officers track down the thief.

Sunday night, Fargo officers responded to a call of a stolen vehicle that had been left with the engine running.

The owner said the laptop was still transmitting its location and police were able to use that to track down 41-year-old Willshaun Boxley.

But when they tried to stop Boxley, he pulled onto I-29, took the 40th Avenue North exit and lost control of the vehicle and crashed.

He then fled on foot.

Officers caught him about a quarter mile from the crash site.

Boxley was arrested for theft of a motor vehicle, theft of property, fleeing, reckless driving, DUI, and driving under suspension.
