M State, Open Educational Resources work to give students free textbooks
MOORHEAD, Minn. (KVRR) – M State is working with the Institute on Open Educational Resources to expand the use of discounted and free textbooks.
They are one of 48 colleges across the country working with the national institute for the 2023 to 2024 school year.
The institute offers educational materials that are free for teachers and students to use.
Staff posting select course material online is another alternative to full-priced textbooks.
With this program, students could save hundreds of dollars a year.
M States Dean of Liberal arts and Sciences Alicia Carley said, “Just making education accessible for everyone and doing things that are really going to foster the long term success for our learners so that we can get them in our doors help them be successful within our doors and then let them go out into our community get jobs that are meaningful for them and hopefully serving some capacity for our communities.”
M State has 65 hundred students in Moorhead, Detroit Lakes, Fergus Falls and Wadena.
