Celebrating veterans in the Fargo-Moorhead area
MOORHEAD, Minn. (KVRR) – As we celebrate Veterans’ Day this weekend, it’s a great reminder to remember those that served our country. Tom Krabbenhoft served in the military, and heads the FM honor guard. He shares what it means to be a veteran with others.
“Draws for those lifetime relationships. It’s much like a sports team. You’re a very small group of people that share an experience.” said Krabbenhoft.
At MSUM, a concert series was held to commemorate the men and women that were in the armed forces. Krabbenhoft says it means a lot to be in a community that cares for their veterans.
“To be together in this community is so supportive of veterans whether it’s a business or the local restaurants that are offering things for veterans’ day for us to come with our families out. We really enjoy that. It’s phenomenal to be a veteran in this community.” said Krabbenhoft.
A quote that is often remembered during this time:
“We remember the many brave men and women who gave their lives through the history of our country to protect us from danger and harm.
We remember all those who sustained injury in mind and or body in the course of their service.
We salute all those who served and serve in the military.” – unknown, from the veterans’ concert program.
“I describe my military experience, I was in for 28 years. I would not sell my experiences for a billion dollars. But I wouldn’t buy a nickel’s worth. To sum up my experience. It’s just something that I was so fortunate to live it and be able to be around so many people that have these shared experiences with. It’s absolutely incredible.” said Krabbenhoft.
