Teen Killed in Officer-Involved Shooting in Kirkwood Mall Parking Lot in Bismarck

BISMARCK, N.D. (KVRR) — A 17-year-old male is dead after an officer-involved shooting in the Kirkwood Mall parking lot in Bismarck.

Three Bismarck police officers were involved, and they were not hurt.

They responded just after midnight on multiple reports of people hearing gunfire and determined a shooting took place around Everspring Hotel.

The suspect, 17-year-old Nicholas Bruington of Bismarck, allegedly shot at another juvenile who was not injured.

Bruington’s vehicle was stopped around 2 a.m. in the Kirkwood Mall parking lot.

Officers say he had a firearm, did not follow commands and was shot.

He was pronounced dead at the hospital.

All three officers are on administrative leave pending the investigation by North Dakota BCI.
