Area band leaders travel to New York to perform in Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade

NEW YORK (KVRR/KFGO) — A group of Fargo-Moorhead band leaders traveled to perform in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Six current and former leaders joined 400 others from around the U.S. and Mexico.

Laura Johnson, of Dilworth, is the band director at Carl Ben Eielson Middle School and Fargo South High School.

She said they arrived in New York City Sunday to begin practicing and marching together.

The organization “Saluting America’s Band Directors” made the trip possible.

They also got a chance to perform at Ground Zero at the 9/11 Memorial and Museum.

Others on the trip include: Johnson’s husband Noah, the band director at Hawley, former Barnesville band director Aaron Romaine, Abigail Berg from Hawley, former Hawley band director Keith Wander, and Reinertsen Elementary music teacher Lauren Wander Holleman.
