LIVE: Yas Queen — ND-Based Company In National Education Innovation Spotlight
FARGO — It’s been called the Pulitzer prize of education innovation.
And a Dakota-based firm is getting attention for making the shortlist of semifinalists for the million-dollar Yass Prize.
Be More Colorful is a virtual reality company that works to bring students into workplaces across the state without ever leaving the classroom.
Among their products is a workplace immersion experience that pulls from a library of different professions.
It’s especially useful for professions like agriculture and construction where younger students shouldn’t come until they’re older, for safety reasons.
It can also bridge the financial and geographical gap for kids in far-flung areas from the job site they’d like to study without incurring travel and time costs.
Their system uses 360-degree technology to make the experience as much like an in-person job shadow as possible.
And it helps get kids exploring local careers and expanding the region’s future local workforce.
Be More Colorful is just back from New York after the award ceremony for this year’s prize.
He stopped in to the KVRR Studios to talk with the Morning Show about Be More Colorful’s mission to connect kids with real-life learning experiences.
