Running of the John Beargrease Sled Dog Marathon Postponed to 2025 Due To Weather Conditions

DULUTH, Minn. (KVRR) — The above average weather has taken out a popular winter event.
The John Beargrease Sled Dog Marathon Race in Duluth is being canceled this year due to a lack of snow.
Duluth had around an inch of snow or less on the ground as of January 2, 2024.
The race has been rescheduled for January 26, 2025.
In a social media post, organizers say it wasn’t an easy decision to call off the race.
They say with concerns over the weather, safety of the dogs, mushers and volunteers it was the only decision they felt comfortable making.
The Beargrease will continue to have several fundraising events which will be promoted on their social media accounts and website.
