Former Speaker Kurt Daudt says he will resign

ST. PAUL, Minn. (KVRR) — Former Speaker Kurt Daudt says he is resigning from the Minnesota House of Representatives.

The republican say it will be effective February 11th.

He represents District 27B which includes the communities of Saint Francis, Princeton, Zimmerman, and other parts of Sherburne, Isanti, Mille Lacs, and Anoka County.

He previously served Districts 17A and 31A.

He was first elected to the House in 2010.

Daudt did not say what he plans to do next.

Governor Walz will call for a special election to fill his position.
