MSUM Men’s Basketball Wins 15th Straight For Tying Best Start in Program History

MSUM Defeats Southwest Minnesota State in Overtime

MOOREHAD, MN —  The MSUM Dragons trailed 10 to 0 in the opening half with Southwest Minnesota State looking to put them away early but the undefeated Dragons rallied to tie the game at 42 going into the second half. The Mustangs took a 44-42 lead in the second half and from there it was a back and forth affair that required overtime to settle the final score. The Dragons trailed 87-86 with ten seconds left in overtime when Jacob Beeninga drove the length of the floor and pulled up for a jumper from the elbow to seal the deal with just two seconds remaining in the game.

The Dragons have now won 15 straight games which ties the 1970-71 teams record for most wins to start the season. If the Dragons win Saturday at home against Sioux Falls they would tie the program record for consecutive wins with 16 set by the Dragons during the 2015-2016 season.

The Dragons host Sioux Falls tomorrow at 3:30 PM at Nemzek Fieldhouse.
