“Taylor Drift” To Represent a Snowplow in NW Minnesota After Annual Naming Contest

ST. PAUL (KVRR) — Three music superstars, a couple of movie references and Barbie are the big winners in this year’s Name a Snowplow contest in Minnesota.

After more than 32,000 votes were cast your local winners include “Taylor Drift” in District 2 in the northwest and “Beyonsleigh” in District 4 in west central Minnesota.

Other notables among the 8 district winners include “Clark W. Blizzwald” after the Christmas Vacation character in central Minnesota, “Dolly Plowton” in the northeast, “You’re Killin’ Me Squalls” in the southeast and “Barbie’s Dream Plow” in the Twin Cities.

“Taylor Drift” was the top vote getter, continuing Taylor Swift’s grip on pop culture.

The final eight came from more than 8,000 submissions.

Statewide, MnDOT now has 35 named snowplows.

The winning names, in order of vote totals, and their future homes are:

·      Taylor Drift – District 2 (Northwest Minnesota)

·      Clark W. Blizzwald – District 3 (Central Minnesota)

·      Dolly Plowton – District 1 (Northeast Minnesota)

·      Waipahinte (Dakota word for “snowplow”) – District 8 (Southwest Minnesota)

·      Beyonsleigh – District 4 (West Central Minnesota)

·      You’re Killin’ Me Squalls – District 6 (Southeast Minnesota)

·      Fast and Flurrious – District 7 (South Central Minnesota)

·      Barbie’s Dream Plow – Metro District (Twin Cities)
