Two School Buses Involved in Crash in Moorhead, No Serious Injuries
MOORHEAD, Minn. (KVRR/KFGO 8:10 PM Update) — First responders are on the scene of a crash involving two Moorhead Area Public School District school buses in Moorhead.
The crash was reported around 4:15 p.m. this afternoon in the 2600 block of 34th Street near I-94.
The collision was in front of Zip’s Car Wash, north of Holiday Stationstores.
Moorhead Police say three buses were in the inside lane traveling southbound when the middle bus changed lanes.
As traffic was backing up for the stop light, the first bus had reduced speed due to traffic.
The third bus had a delayed reaction time, could not stop, and struck the first bus.
Initial reports indicate that the bus driver may have been distracted by student behavior on the bus.
All students were transported back to Horizon Middle School for reunification with their guardians.
Dozens of kids were on the buses at the time and they were checked for injuries.
Superintendent Brandon Lunak says there were no serious injuries.
Lunak says they will review what happened leading up the crash and determine next steps based on what they find.
The crash remains under investigation.
