Milwaukee Expert Holds Conversation on Ending Homelessness at Fargo City Hall
FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — A man who played a pivotal role in leading Milwaukee to a 45% reduction in overall homelessness is bringing his ideas to the metro.
James Mathy, Milwaukee County Housing Administrator, gave his “Housing First Presentation” at Fargo City Hall.
He talked about the necessary components to develop an end to homelessness including a housing-first approach.
Mathy talked about how all sectors of government and business have to be involved to make it a success.
He has 20 years of experience in housing with a focus on the development of homeless programs and permanent supportive housing.
“I’ve been fortunate enough to speak to communities around the country, I have never seen this level of engagement from local leaders, from the mayor’s office, thank you Mayor Mahoney and your team. To see this sort of public interest in this to make a difference is something I’m not used to seeing. So congratulations to you all for your efforts and hopefully what we can do,” said Mathy.
Mathy also gave a presentation at Fargo Theatre.
These events are funded through a North Dakota Health Equity Grant.
