LIVE: New Owner Of Moorhead Freez Plans To Keep Sweet Traditions Alive
One iconic Moorhead Ice Cream shop is heading into the future with new ownership looking to keep sweet traditions alive
MOORHEAD, Minn. (KVRR) – One iconic Moorhead Ice Cream shop is heading into the future with new ownership looking to keep sweet traditions alive.
The Moorhead Freez is opening for the season at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 1st.
Lorraine Moore bought the shop over the winter.
Former Co-owner Jess Malvin is staying on the help with the transition.
She and her partner bought The Freez in 2018 back when it was still the Tastee Freez.
But she’s worked at the ice cream shop for more than 20 years.
That history is part of why she was so eager to sell to someone who will keep the store open as is.
Malvin says, “It’s huge to the community. There’s so many people that love this place, not just me. So I wanted to keep true to that and that what was important to me to find somebody who would keep true to the history.”
Moore adds, “Pretty much the menu is all gonna stay the same. We will have some different specials throughout the summer and I have kind of a fun promotion planned for the summer time.”
The shop first opened in the 1960s and was rebranded from Tasty Freez in 2020.
