Local veteran involved in humanitarian work returns from Ukraine, says war with Russia is a ‘stalemate’
Mark J. Lindquist arrived from Ukraine on Monday. He says after more than two years, it's vital that people still pay attention to the war in Ukraine.
FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) – A local Air Force veteran, speaker and performer has spent most of the last two years near the front lines of war in Ukraine helping bring supplies into the country.
This week, you can hear from him first hand about what is happening on the ground there.
Mark J. Lindquist arrived back in the Valley from Ukraine on Monday. He says after more than two years, it’s vital that people still pay attention to the war in Ukraine.
Lindquist says the war has dragged to a stalemate in the air, with neither side able to get an advantage in air superiority he says they’d need to win.
Lindquist is talking about how conditions have changed in Ukraine over the last two-plus years at a talk in Grand Forks Thursday night.
He says the need for supplies in Ukraine is greater than ever before.
Lindquist explains, “When the Ministry of Defense in Ukraine gets a dollar they’re gonna spend it on something that goes boom. A lot of times, when you are faced with limited resources you are unable to equip their military with the things that we would assume they have like the tourniquets, like the boots, like the winter weather gear and the generators and the like.”
Lindquist is heading back to Ukraine after his talk. He’s always looking for more financial help to get supplies to the front lines. Click here to learn more about his organization and to donate.
