Man Who Got Into Shootout With SWAT in Grand Forks Faces 15 Charges Including Attempted Murder

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (KVRR) — A man who got into a gunfight with police in Grand Forks is now facing a long list of charges including four counts of attempted murder.

The SWAT team was attempting to execute a high risk search warrant on 30-year-old Jeffrey Simpson Jr..

It happened last Friday afternoon around 2:15 in the 3300 Block of Primrose Court.

Simpson opened fire as soon as he saw the officers.

No one was struck or injured.

Simpson is charged with 15 counts and in addition to attempted murder he is charged with burglary, domestic violence, terrorizing and other crimes.

A preliminary hearing is set for May 6 in Grand Forks.

North Dakota BCI is investigating the shootout.
