WEST FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — West Fargo City Commissioners take up the issue of allowing backyard chickens in the city.

They voted three to two to allow up to six chickens with an annual permit.

One commissioner said he has heard concerns about attracting predators, smells and the amount of daylight it takes to produce eggs.

Commissioners Mark Simmons and Brad Olson said they agree with many people that called the ordinance a joke before voting against it.

Commissioners Roben Anderson, Mandy George and Commission President Bernie Dardis voted for the ordinance.

Fargo, Moorhead and Horace already allow backyard chickens.
