LIVE: Volunteers needed to help cancer patients on “Road to Recovery”

The American Cancer Society is looking for local volunteers for its "Road to Recovery" program

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) – You can help people battling cancer on their road to recovery, literally.

The American Cancer Society is looking for local volunteers for its “Road to Recovery” program.
Volunteers simply pick up people fighting cancer and take them to and from medical appointments and treatments.
They’re trying to jump start the program again after COVID.
Local volunteer Mike Gunter has been driving folks around since 2019.
He’s also battled prostate cancer himself.
He knows from experience when he says how much a little piece of mind can help when cancer patients don’t have to worry about travel.

He says, “It’s something that you take off their plate. They’ve got enough on their mind without having to worry about the ride and the cold weather and the parking and all that.”

The American Cancer Society is looking for a dozen more volunteers to bring the program back to full speed. Click here to learn more about signing up.
