Hopkins Woman Killed While On Safari In Africa After Elephant Rams Vehicle

ZAMBIA (KVRR/KFGO) — A Hopkins, Minnesota woman was killed after the vehicle she was in while on safari was attacked by an elephant.

The incident occurred on Saturday at a national park in Zambia, Africa.

Investigators say 80-year-old Gail Mattson was fatally injured when a bull elephant unexpectedly charged at the safari vehicle which had become trapped by terrain and vegetation.

Another person was taken to a private medical facility, while four others were treated for minor injuries.

Mattson’s daughter writing on Facebook that her mom lost her life while on her dream adventure.
