Red Lake Nation’s Red Lake Inc. To Join Trade Mission to India

WASHINGTON, D.C. (KVRR) — Red Lake Nation’s Red Lake, Inc. will be participating in a trade mission to New Delhi, India at the end of the month.

Red Lake is one of nearly four dozen businesses and organizations that will join USDA Under Secretary Alexis Taylor on the mission.

They will be the only representative from a Native or Tribal community.

Sen. Tina Smith says “We need to support all farmers—and that includes making sure we’re advocating for Native farmers who may face unique and challenging barriers to successfully owning and operating farms.”

“This trade mission to India will be a great opportunity for Red Lake to cultivate new markets for their agriculture products.”

The trade group will receive in-depth market briefings from USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service and industry trade experts.

Smith is a member of the Senate Indian Affairs Committee.
