Sanford Health Donates $6.5 Million to UND for Endowments and Campus Upgrades

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (KVRR) — A major gift to UND from the largest rural health system in the United States.
Sanford Health is donating $6.5 million to the university to impact multiple areas across the campus.
$2.5 million will fund three endowments that will receive a 50% match from the North Dakota Higher Education Challenge Grant Fund.
The endowments will benefit students who intend to practice behavioral health, psychology or clinical psychology and for programming in the Department of Sports Medicine.
The remaining $4 million gift was unrestricted by Sanford.
UND will use that money to complete the Nodak Insurance Company Sports Performance Center.
“Sanford takes immense pride in giving back. I cannot wait to see all the good that will come from this gift,” said Tiffany Lawrence, Sanford Health Fargo President and CEO.
UND President Andrew Armacost said, “This is a game-changing gift that will be felt by so many students across our entire campus.”
Armacost says the education, training, and skills generated from these gifts are key to workforce development in healthcare.
