Sen. Nicole Mitchell Pulled From Committees After Arrest in Detroit Lakes

ST. PAUL (KVRR/FOX9) — State Senator Nicole Mitchell of Woodbury, Minnesota is being relieved of her committee assignments and removed from caucus meetings following her arrest for suspected burglary in Detroit Lakes.
Senate Majority Leader Erin Murphy made the announcement in a statement.
She says the case has been sent to the Senate Subcommittee on Ethical Conduct.
Mitchell was arrested early Monday morning when police found her inside her stepmother’s home wearing all black after the stepmother called 911.
The criminal complaint states that Mitchell told police she was there to get sentimental items that belonged to her late father, adding she knew she “did something bad”.
She is charged with first-degree burglary and has her next court appearance set for June 10.
The Democrat is in her first term in office and is a former television meteorologist and current member of the Air National Guard.
