WEST FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) – It take a community to help people living with Type 1 diabetes.

6-year-old Klayton Brekke was 22 months old when he was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes.
But with his family’s help, he has the disease under control. He can run and play like any kid.
Klayton is an ambassador for this Saturday’s JDRF Community One Walk in West Fargo.
Supporting the JDRF lets families like the Brekkes know that they’re not alone, and helps kids like Klayton thrive while living with diabetes.

Klayton’s mom Kristi Brekke explains, “It doesn’t have to slow you down. You can really get through the day. The community that JDRF association that we have, that has been formed here in the Fargo area, is amazing. It doesn’t slow him down.”

The JDRF One Walk begins at 10 am Saturday at Rustad Recreation Center in West Fargo.
