Wahpeton Man Charged After Domestic Incident And Standoff

WAHPETON, N.D. (KVRR) — Charges are filed against a Wahpeton man after a domestic assault on Friday lead to a standoff with authorities.

20-year-old Nathan Deemer III is charged with terrorizing a child victim, preventing arrest, reckless endangerment and domestic violence.

Deemer is accused of assaulting a family member and pointing a gun at them.

A shelter in place was issued for part of Wahpeton Friday afternoon.

The family was able to leave the house.

Deemer tried to escape through a rear entrance after about three hours but he was taken into custody.
