GRAND FORKS, N.D. (KVRR/KFGO) — A Grand Forks lawmaker arrested for misdemeanor DUI in May has reached a plea deal.

Republican Rep. Claire Cory pleaded guilty to a charge of reckless driving.

Cory received a suspended sentence of 12 days in jail, which she won’t have to serve if she completes the requirements of the agreement including paying a fine and getting a chemical dependency evaluation.

A breath test showed her blood alcohol content was 0.16 percent, twice the legal limit for driving when she was pulled over near the intersection of Gateway Drive and Columbia Road on May 7.

Cory is running for the District 42 senate seat in the fall.
