LIVE: Painting a Stronger Community

FARGO — We know looking at art can connect you with the stranger who created the artwork.

And now, Fargo Parks officials are hoping to connect all of us, by getting us to work on a piece of public artwork together.

They’re celebrating National Park and Recreation month this Monday, July 22nd, by calling on us to help create a community mural.

All ages and levels of artistic skill are invited.

You’ll get to contribute to a permanent piece of art in one of the city’s most iconic parks — Island Park.

Just drop by any time between ten and eight, at the Maintenance Building on the south side.

And when you’re done painting your part of the masterpiece, relax after all that effort by joining the parks people in celebrating National Hammock Day, also in Island Park.

The Park District’s Kylie Kanwischer joined the Morning Show to talk about why public art can build connections in the community, what the mural’s theme will be, and why they’re so excited to celebrate 40 years of National Park and Recreation Month.
