United Way of Cass-Clay needs 1,200 more backpacks to reach goal

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — The United Way of Cass-Clay is getting ready to help send kids back to school but they need your help.

For the past 26 years, the organization has hosted school supply drives for kids K through 12.

United Way hands out backpacks filled with everything a student might need.

Right now, they are in need of 1,200 more backpacks to fulfill their goal.

Their mission is make sure that every kid that needs a backpack has one.

Karla Isley, United Way of Cass-Clay, says, “We know to break that generational cycle of poverty youth. There are one in eight youth that are in kindergarten through twelfth grade living in poverty in our community and we know when we can help have them live their best lives. We can change their trajectory and put them on the course because everyone, every child deserves the opportunity to thrive in our community.”

United Way of Cass-Clay says their goal is to reach 6,000 backpacks by Monday.
