PARIS (KVRR) — He might have come up short in his quest for an Olympic medal, but former NDSU Bison shot putter Payton Otterdahl still had a big win in Paris.

The Olympic athlete proposed to his girlfriend, Maddy Nilles, beneath the Eiffel Tower and she said ‘Yes!’.

Otterdahl sharing the happy news on his Instagram page writing “Meanwhile, in the City of Love…I love you forever, Maddy!”

It’s a big win for Otterdahl since he came in 4th during Saturday’s shot put event at the Olympics, missing out on a medal.

He took 10th in the shot put at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021.

Otterdahl is from Rosemount, Minnesota and graduated from NDSU in 2018.
