Upgraded Charges Expected After Victim of Tuesday Crash Near Lisbon Dies at Sanford in Fargo

RANSOM CO., N.D. (KVRR) — Criminal charges are being upgraded against a driver that caused a crash Tuesday afternoon near Lisbon, North Dakota.
Highway Patrol says a criminal vehicular injury charge against 37-year-old Amber Patel of Oakes, North Dakota is expected to be amended to criminal vehicular homicide.
The patrol says Patel rear-ended 67-year-old Jerry Rufsvold’s vehicle when he was stopped to turn off of Highway 32, pushing it into the path of an oncoming vehicle and was hit head on.
The Lisbon man was flown to Sanford in Fargo and died Saturday of his injuries.
The driver in the third vehicle was not injured.
Rufsvold was the only driver not wearing a seat belt.
